Helping teams reset expectations, engagement and accountability
For an underperforming group of individuals to transforms into a high performing team, they need to reset their standards and expectations and then hold each other accountable and be supportive in driving success. Facilitation provides a structured and supportive way to build high performing teams.
- Team facilitation focused on engagement and performance
- Inquiry-based, experiential group conversations
- Delivered through an in-person facilitated programme
The situation
This case focused on a group of people who appeared to lack motivation and confidence. They had become passive in their approach to work, which was particularly challenging given they were responsible for a flagship offering within the organisation.
The challenge
The group were not functioning as a team. Morale was low, engagement was limited, and many team members were simply going through the motions. This created a low-energy environment that was at odds with their role as a client-facing team expected to be resourceful, confident and engaging.
The approach
The initial two-day programme involved facilitated discussions that supported the team to set clear expectations and agree on the measures they would use to hold themselves accountable.
The work began with building self-awareness and awareness of how team members engaged with and supported one another. From there, the team established shared standards and developed strategies to engage more effectively with clients, creating a welcoming and resourceful experience.
The outcome
As a result of the facilitated sessions, the team developed a deeper understanding of one another and a stronger sense of connection. They gained clarity on how they wanted to show up for clients and the type of service they would provide — and not provide.
This led to a more motivated and engaged team that not only set clear standards, but also established supportive ways to maintain them over time.
Next steps
When teams lose momentum or clarity, facilitated conversations can help reset expectations and rebuild engagement.
If you’re looking to support a team to reconnect, clarify how they work together, and lift performance, facilitation provides a structured and supportive way forward.
