The ontology advantage

Ontology — the study of “being” — recognises that leadership is shaped by how people think, feel, and act. Unlike conventional skills-based programmes, ontological coaching addresses three core domains:

  • Language – how we shape meaning and influence others.
  • Emotions – how we manage energy, resilience, and connection.
  • Body – how presence and behaviour impact leadership effectiveness.

By working across these domains, leaders achieve lasting transformation that directly benefits organisational performance.

The search for another level

CFT Director Oliver Love, experienced first-hand both the benefits and limitations of conventional leadership training, often focused on tips and techniques. Tools were useful, but they often skimmed the surface. What was missing was something deeper — a way to help leaders fundamentally shift how they approached challenges.

In 2007 Oliver was fortunate enough to be introduced to the ontological approach to coaching and leadership. It gave him the language and practices to create sustainable transformation — not just for himself, but for the leaders, teams, and organisations he works with across Asia.

Today, he works with certified ontological coaches and facilitators who share this vision.
